British Open Qualifying

Are you curious about how players earn a spot in the British Open?  Learn more about British Open qualifying here.

The British Open has 156 spots, and players have 3 ways to qualify for the tournament.

British Open qualifying uses exemptions to populate about two thirds of the field.  The other qualifying methods for the British Open include Local Qualifying and International Qualifying.

Exemptions are given to the top ranking professional golfers, previous Open Champions under the age of 60, players who have won a certain number of majors, and the top ten from the previous year.  British Open qualifying, if you don’t earn an exemption, is challenging.
