About the British Open
British Open Venues
The British Open Championship is the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf. The British Open is held annually in mid July, after The Masters and the U.S. Open but before the PGA Championship.
British Open Venues change from year to year. There are nine British Open venues that are used on a rotating basis. These British Open venues are historic golf courses in England and Scotland. The British Open was held once in Ireland, but unfortunately is no longer on the rotation for British Open venues.
There are 4 British Open venues in England and 5 British Open venues in Scotland.
